Roots & Wisdom — how it works

See inside the app

A closer look at what makes Roots & Wisdom different — and how each piece connects to support a real, daily herbal practice.

Section I - Your Daily Anchor

Start every day grounded in season and practice

The homepage isn’t a dashboard — it’s a daily ritual. The current date, season, and moon phase orient you before anything else. A reflective journal prompt to inspire you to trust your inner wisdom and intuition. Each entry grows your personal herb garden — an adorable, visual reminder to invite the plants into your life each day.

Section 2 — Seasonal intelligence

Seasonal insights into the plants around you — in your local area, right now

The Harvest Spotlight shows you exactly which plants are ready in your USDA hardiness zone this month — with identification notes and harvest timing specific to your environment. Whether you cultivate your own herbs, have a pot on your windowsill, engage with local growers or just want to be more in tune with your environment…this allows for a little seasonal insight.

Section 3 — The living materia medica

A more comprehensive herbal reference — in one place.

Each herb profile holds a robust group of details spanning different modalities: traditional uses, energetics, actions, parts used with preparation notes, safety cautions, and a reference list so you can refer to the original source and continue learning.

And the harvest calendar below each profile connects you to that specific herbs typical growth cycle and timing. The plants have so much to offer us…let’s get to know them on as many levels as possible.

Section 4 — Your learning hub

All your courses, books, and notes — connected

Courses, books, websites, and other resources all live in one searchable library. Track what you’ve completed, what’s in progress, and what’s next. Add notes and summaries directly to each course — then let the AI linking system connect those notes to the herbs in your library automatically.

Connections between notes, herbs, courses, and each other can all be woven together as you learn.

Section 5 — The Circle

A community that builds knowledge together

Herbal knowledge has always been passed between people, from one hand to the next. The Circle is a moderated community forum where members ask questions, share recipes, start study groups, and discuss their seasonal practice. Topics are connected directly to herbs in the library — so conversations live in context, not in a separate silo you have to go searching through.

Section 6 — Everything connected

One ecosystem. Not five separate apps.

Journal, Planner, Reference Library, Recipes, Study Groups, Seasonal Planner — everything lives under one umbrella and is woven through everything else. The navigation is simple because the connections give life and insight behind the scenes.

Section 7 — Watch the walkthrough

See it in action

A full video walkthrough of the app — from the homepage through the materia medica, learning hub, and community forum. The best way to get a feel for how everything connects.
